Well Crud!

Last night I had a difficult time sleeping.  Whenever this happens, I
usually walk into the living room, lay on the couch and fall asleep
almost immediately.  Well last night was different.  I layed on the
couch and continued to toss and turn. I would kick off covers,
put them back on, walk to the bathroom, check on the kids,
everything but fall asleep.  As I was laying on the couch, staring
at the ceiling and thinking about all kinds or STUPID things at
1:30 a.m., I heard a loud pop sound.  My first thought was that the
electricity went out but when I looked up at the ceiling and the fan
was still running and I could still hear the A/C running I knew
electricity was ok.  Oh well.  Whatever.

This morning I got up and decided to walk on Millie.  I just
didn't have the energy to run after my horrible night of not
sleeping, so I cranked Millie up and even put some incline for about half of
my 2 mile walk.

About noon, my sister called and agreed to go school shopping
for both our daughters...woo hoo!  Off we went! We had a great
day and I was very successful finding clothes for my size "0"
almost 14 y.o. daughter.

We pull into the driveway about 6 o'clock, walk into the house
with all our loot and IT IS HOT!!!  AFRICA HOT!!
That's right folks the A/C is broke!  May I remind you all that
we live in central TEXAS and it was almost 100 degrees
today.  OMG!!

I walk into our bedroom and Doug is sitting at the computer
reading up on buying a new A/C unit.  He worked outside all day
today and didn't know that it was hot in the house. Sugar,
Squash and Sunshine were in the house all day long and
none of them thought to go and tell Doug that the house was
SWELTERING!!  Oy!!!

So, Doug gets on the phone and calls a friend of ours who
runs the company that my daddy use to work for (refrigeration
and air conditioning sales and service) and he said he would
have some of his guys at our house Monday to replace our unit
with a great new energy efficient unit. (at his cost)

So girls and guys, this Texas girl will stay a little longer at
church tomorrow a.m. and visit more people, will go to the
grocery store and walk slow and visit with all my former
students that work there (we live in a small community) and
will go and visit my sister for a few hours or so.

Its a good thing that all 6 of us have ceiling fans and stand
up fans in our bedrooms.  I will probably jump into the
cold shower again before I get on top of my bed, on top
of my covers with the fans a blowin' at full speed.

Chill out everyone!!  I'll be thinkin' of you all!

  6. Oh I know the feeling. My first house was in Texas, and we had been living there two months, when it sounded like an explosion happened in the back yard. Our condenser, air handler kind of blew up. the previous owners had really really poorly repaired a previous break, and it was a miracle it worked at all.

Of course it was the Friday of Labor Day weekend, and like 900 degrees outside. It was a disaster. I friend of ours family actually came over the next day and put in a new system and all was well. It will pass, and good luck with it.

  7. Oh yes, 7 days a week when it all gets going! That Friday off was a rare treat, and we can kiss them goodbye now. They've started two-a-days, and I'm now an official 7 day a week coach's widow. :)
