A couple of days ago I jumped on Millie to see how far I could go.
However, I did something that I haven't done in a while...I put on my
mp3 while running. See, Millie is set up about 5 feet from the TV
in my bedroom. I get to run with all the wonderful channels that Dish
Network gives us on our plan. On this day, the tv was on, but I
put my mp3 on as well. Wow!! I forgot how much easier it is
to run with my favorite songs running through my ears.
If any of you have ever noticed the writing under my header on this
blog, you notice it says:
I don't lead the most exciting life. I'm a wife,
mother of 4, teacher for 20 years and a slow jogger for almost 2 years.
My mp3 has music from the 70's,80's, 90's and today! (sounds like
an ad for a radio station doesn't it?)
Well I thought I'd give you a bit of a peek into my ears as to what
kind of goofy songs I listen to.
First...
The 70's
My Eyes Adore You- Frankie Vallie- My all time favorite song EVAH!!
The 80's
Huey Lewis and the News songs- I love Huey!
Jefferson Starship- We Built this City (perfect beat for my pace)
Katrina and the Waves- Walking on Sunshine
B-52's- Love Shack
Gloria Estefan- various
Michael Jackson- various
Pat Benatar-Heart Breaker
George Michael- Various
Prince- Various
Pet Shop Boys- West End Boys
more
90's/Today
Ricky Martin- Various
Sheryl Crow- Various
Run DMC- Walk this Way
Shakira- Hips Don't Lie
Shania Twain- Up
Black Eyed Peas- Various
Beyonce- Put a Ring on It
Lady Gaga- Alejandro
Christina Aguilara- Candy Man, Fighter
Katy Perry- Hot and Cold
more
So...those are just a few of the songs that get me to run a "little" bit
farther, a little bit stronger.
I try to avoid rap songs. I hate songs with a bunch of curse words.
If i want to hear bad words, I walk in the hallways during the school
year and I get to hear them all.
I'd love to hear what songs "pump you up"!
I love the 70s stuff for sure, and some of the 80s and 90's though I tend to lean towards soul and hip hop. I just look for the "radio" or "clean" versions!
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, I don't run with music a whole bunch. Early in the morning, especially when it's still dark like it is now, I feel like I need to be really aware of what is going on around me. On the dreadmill, which I avoid whenever possible, I tend to run watching something I've taped, since I don't have cable where it's located.
Van Halen for sure. I didn't like them much in high school, but now...they rock.
ReplyDeleteI am also really into New Order. Based on your music choices, maybe try "Bizarre Love Triangle."
I like the 80's picks...my songs are also very varied. From Piaf to Styx and lots in between :)
ReplyDeleteA favorite: Leonard Cohen - Dance me to the end of Love.
We don't have a lot in common. I do have Sheryl Crow. I love the Dixie Chicks for running.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...I got a few new ideas.
ReplyDeleteI start every running playlist with "Pretty Fly For a White Guy" by Offspring - it just gets me going. Love the old '70's stuff, "Turning Japanese" lots of stuff by Pink, some songs from the Grease soundtrack - yes, I am all over the board, like you!
